u12 Boys Partnership leads to National Indoor Honors

February 28th, 2009

Fraser, MI- The u12 Alliance FC boys combined with the Michigan Future Stars to compete at
the National Indoor Championships.  They were rewarded with a Division 1 championship and a Division 2 runner up trophy.

The Division 2 FSA team won all of their bracket games scoring sixteen (16) and giving up only (5) five goals.  In their first match, the boys surprised a strong Cleveland Cobras team and walked away with a 2-1 win.  In the title match, the boys came up on the wrong end of the same score against FC Nova.  With a number of missed chances and great saves by both sides, the 1-1 deadlock wasn't broken until the last few minutes of the match.

The Division 1 FSA team (pictured above) made it to the championship match by defeating the top team in Northern Ohio, the Maumee Express 8-2.  Everyone anticipated a great final as their opponent, the Northern Ohio Elite, beat the same Maumee team 8-1.  The finals ended 6-2 with FSA coming out on top.

Commitment was the theme and player development was the top priority for the coaches, parents, and boys as they participated in over twenty (20) hours of training and thirteen matches.  By bringing together two of the top ranked teams in Michigan, the coaches and parents believed that the individual and team growth was far greater than what they could have achieved alone.
