Five 2007 Alliance FC
spring teams traveled to Cincinnati and only one
(the u15 Boys) walked away champions. Four of
the teams that did not make it through in 2007 did
not advance despite having 2-1 records. Three
of these teams returned in 2008 to not only make it
out of their brackets but to be named champions.
Making the trip were the
u10G (pictured left), u12G, u13G, u10B, u12B, u13B,
and u15B.
The u10B finished as u11
Gold Division Finalists after going 3-1 in a round
robin format.
The story of the day was
the 1-0 score-line. The u12B, u12G, and u13G

Alliance FC Coach Hamdi Rammal Accepts
MSYSA Coach of the Year!
January 11th, 2008
When
Hamdi Rammal (pictured left in blue warm-up) was
named MSYSA coach of the year in November, it was
the first time in the
history of our state
association that an area coach was given this honor.
As a club, we all know this award has everything to
do with Hamdi's unmitigated passion for the game
that he carefully balances with a healthy respect
for his players.
Too often in youth
sports, coaches fall into the trap of hurting kid's
egos and confidence in the name of winning. It
would be safe to say that Hamdi has never made this
mistake. In fact, Hamdi is more likely to take
a chance on a developing player that has the right
attitude and work rate. The result is that his
teams are
generally
committed groups who enjoy playing for him and enjoy
each other.
Last Friday, the Detroit
Ignition (professional indoor) hosted an MSYSA night
to honor Hamdi (pictured left with members of his
u14 Girls Premier Team) and other state award
recipients. Amy Dunwell (u11B-u13B) organized
a charter bus from Grand Rapids so Alliance FC
coaches, parents, players, and friends could
comfortably travel to the game. As an added
bonus, they got to meet DeMarcus Beesley (US
National Team and Glasgow Rangers) The result
was a very special night as over forty members of
the club were able to make the trip.
Everyone had a great
time as the game was extremely entertaining, the
atmosphere incredibly professional, and the overall
experience exceeded everyone's expectations.
Thanks go out to Amy Dunwell for organizing this
trip and making it a night to remember for Hamdi,
his family, and everyone in attendance.
Congratulations again go out to Hamdi on such a fine
achievement.
Alliance FC Teams Among the best in
Michigan!
December 5th, 2007
A number of Alliance
teams have been recognized by the ranking systems of Got Soccer.com and National
Soccer Ranking.com for their accomplishments this year! Congratulations to
the u11 Boys for being ranked #5 in Michigan (NSR Rankings) and #1 in Michigan
(Got Soccer Rankings). The u12 Boys have been ranked #4 in Michigan and
#27 in Region 2 (NSR Rankings) and #12 in Michigan (Got Soccer Rankings)!
Also the u12 Girls Black
won their MSYSA Ford Friendlies Group undefeated. They were one of five
group winners and undefeated against strong teams from throughout the state.
u11 Boys Win Veteran's Invitational in
Evansville, Indiana!
November 18th, 2007
The Alliance FC u11 Boy's
impressive streak continued this weekend as they walked away from a field of 16
u11 teams from throughout the region going undefeated. This caps off a
fall season in which the boys won the highest division in GVSA and went
undefeated in tournament play winning at Midland, River City, and the Veteran's
Day Invitational. Congratulations to Coach Amy, Coach Zsolt, and all the
boys on a job well done!
Hamdi Rammal Named Michigan State Youth
Soccer Coach of the Year!
November 8th, 2007
Alliance FC is proud to
announce Hamdi Rammal (u11 Girls, u14 Girls, and u18 Boys) was recently named
MSYSA Coach of the Year! This honor is a first for a Grand Rapids area
club coach and is a tremendous accomplishment given the number of excellent
candidates coaching throughout Michigan.
MSYSA Names 2007
Award Winners (from www.msysa.net )
MSYSA would like to congratulate the following people for earning a 2007 MSYSA
Annual Award: Hamdi Rammal (pictured below) for Female
Competitive Coach of the Year, Lars Richters for Male
Competitive Coach of the Year, Marcie Holman for Female
Recreational Coach of the Year, Gary Perelli for Male
Recreational Coach of the Year, Debbie Sobel for Parent of the
Year, and Lori Salliotte for Volunteer of the Year. To learn
more about these people and everything they have done for youth soccer in
Michigan, please

Hamdi Rammal is a coach with the Alliance FC,
a soccer club based out of Grand Rapids. Originally from Lebanon, he has been in
the United States for over 20 years. Although not originally a coach, Hamdi is a
long-time soccer player and fan. He got his start as a coach when his four young
daughters began playing soccer. Since that time, he has been very active in the
coaching community.
Over the years, Hamdi has built a reputation based
on his coaching philosophy that every player is unique and has something to
contribute. He is dedicated to building a playing atmosphere where the players
are not afraid of failure, but instead where they can learn from their mistakes.
He is respectful, patient, honest, and fair. Parents attest that not only has
Hamdi taught their daughters the necessary soccer skills to succeed on the
field, but also the maturity, confidence, and self-awareness to help them
succeed in life. Current players describe him as a dedicated coach with a
“quirky” sense of humor. Both parents and players agree that Hamdi is a great
coach, excellent role model, and phenomenal person.
u10 and u11 Boys Dominate Fall Play!
October 30th, 2007
The Alliance FC u10 and u11 Boys are coming off a fall season
in which they went undefeated in two tournaments
(u10 Palatine Celtic Cup (IL) and u11 River City
Fall Soccer Series), won the GVSA u11 2nd division,
and only lost a single game in Champions League
play. Their total record for the fall was
19-1-3 with the three draws coming against u11
competition.
The Alliance FC u11 Boys have achieved similar success having
won the GVSA u11 1st Division and two u11
tournaments (u11
Midland and u11 River City Fall Soccer Series). The
team’s overall record for the fall included an
undefeated record at the MSYSA Ford Friendlies
(4-0-1) and was 18-1-2.

Alliance FC Boys Dominate River City!
Octoberr 25th, 2007
The
Alliance FC u13 Boys led a strong club effort in the
Boys River City Soccer Weekend. The boys
defeated Ole Soccer in and exciting championship
match (5-4 in PKs).
Other winners on
the weekend were the Boys u15s, u12s, u11s, and u10s.
Congratulations to everyone on a great weekend of
soccer. Pictured on the left is Nedim M.
scoring a goal in u11 Boys Championship action.

Alliance FC u14 and u13 Girls Win River
City!
Octoberr 9th, 2007
The Alliance FC u13
Girls coached by Abrahm Shearer and Adam Donovan and
the u14 Girls coached by Hamdi Rammal (pictured to
the right) came away from the River City Fall
Classic champions. Incredibly, the u14 Girls
went undefeated in a bracket made up of high
schoolers and played great soccer against the u17
Muskegon Lakers, Ole Soccer, and the Alliance FC
High School team. The u13 girls dominated a
large field of select and premier u13 teams scoring
an impressive 14 goals while giving up only 2.

Alliance FC Teams Excel at Celtic Cup
September 4th, 2007
Seven teams traveled to Chicago to face some of the
top Competition the Region has to offer. With
over 360 teams in attendance the competition was
fierce and in some age groups went forty (40) +
teams deep.
Through all the competition, the u12 Boys make it to
the finals, u13 Girls advance to semi-finals, and
u10 Boys win out! Another notable, top-flight performances
came from the u14 Boys (1-1-1).
Congratulations to all of our teams and coaches on
such a successful weekend!

u11 Boys First Outing a Huge Success
September 4th, 2007
When
teams get together for their first season
expectations are rarely high. Our u11 Boys
team no longer have this flexibility after a strong
showing at the MIdland Invitational that resulted in
an undefeated record and a forty (40) goal scoring
barrage that left opponents in disbelief.
"These boys have come together quickly and have
shown an ability to put teams away early," commented
coach Zsolt Bertalan, "two of the teams we saw this
weekend were pretty good but, they found themselves
in a hole early and emotionally, we climbed and they
hung their heads. Overall on the weekend, the
boys played some good soccer and we should be
excited for the season ahead."
Alliance FC Proud in Developing ODP Talent
August 7th, 2007
Alliance FC again has proven to be an area leader in
developing talent as a large portion of the West
Michigan ODP players have developed within our club.
Congratulations to our current players in the
following state pools:
'94
Boys- Joe Sweet
'95
Boys- Andre Morris, Robbie Schermer, Austin
Klodzinski,
Hugo Covarrubias, and
Eliseo Vargas.
'95 Girls- Taylor
Vermaat, Kylie Kukowski, and Marti Corby.
A Special Thanks to Cindy Lesneski and
Brad Thomas
Alliance FC would not have had the success over the
past five years without the help of our dedicated volunteers.
Cindy Lesneski has served as club manager for the
past two years after taking over for Lisa Jantz, the club's original club
manager. Cindy has been incredible to work with and a huge thanks go out
from all of the coaching staff, club managers (past and present), and club
members who have benefited from Cindy's hard work. We look forward to
seeing Cindy on the sidelines in the upcoming years.
Brad is one of the founding members of Alliance FC
and IRS (now Rapids). He and the current Rapids director (Tom Ross) did a
tremendous job of filling a select soccer void in the area. More recently,
Brad has served the club as a referee coordinator.
Alliance IRS is
now the Alliance Rapids!
June
11th, 2007
We
are pleased to announce the formation of
Alliance Rapids
within Alliance FC. The approach of Alliance Rapids
is very similar to that of the Alliance IRS program
originally formed by Tom Ross and Brad Thomas in
2000. As soccer has changed in West Michigan in the
last several years, and many clubs have offered a
wide range of choices, we felt it was important to
keep the inclusiveness of a great soccer program,
but to refocus on offering a low cost volunteer
based select soccer experience. Our coaches have
coached select and recreational soccer for several
years, often with more than one soccer license.
Our cost for 2007/2008 will be $275, much lower than
most clubs, yet offering the same select soccer
experience as clubs with good volunteer coaches.
In
addition, next year Alliance Rapids teams will enjoy
periodic training with Alliance FC staff coaches at
the team’s normal practice nights and field. We also
intend to provide some speed and agility training at
the practice sites. There is no additional cost for
these programs. Please note that higher cost
premier and select alternatives, including Alliance
FC, offer strong programs with paid coaches and is a
good option for many soccer families.
See
attached document for FAQs.

Select and Premier Soccer
Interest
October 25th, 2006
Alliance FC teams play premier soccer in
the Michigan State Premier League and
the Champions League. Some of our teams play in both
divisions. As a club, we consider our top teams from the ages
of u12 and above to be premier teams though, we might also consider
a u11 team a premier team. The main difference between
Alliance FC and other programs is that we are less community based.
Our teams typically draw athletes from the Forest Hills, East Grand Rapids,
Grand Rapids, Lowell, Rockford areas, and beyond. Some of our
teams have members from Portage, Plainwell, and Manistee.
Another major difference is that
Alliance FC is the only club in West Michigan with five (5)
full-time coaches and staff working to develop our athletes.
We do this and keep our fees at or below comparable state
premier clubs.
If you have a child of any other age,
please give us a call anytime this winter so that we can discuss if
playing on one of our select or premier teams is a good option.
